What is Provisional Evaluation report?

The Provisional evaluation is being offered for those who cannot provide the required type of documents. The basis of the evaluation is scanned/photocopies which are not typically the required documents for us to provide an Official evaluation.

Please be advised that the acceptance of a Provisional evaluation is at the discretion of the receiving institution or agency.

What is Evaluation Methodology?

Two prevailing credential evaluation methodologies exist:

  • Year-Counting This approach to credentials evaluation—standard in the US—prioritizes years of full-time study as foundational to the comparison of international qualifications and accepts that an academic year (or term) of full-time study in one country is proportionate to an academic year (or term) of full-time study in another. While it is an oversimplification to reduce the entire evaluation strategy to simply counting the number of years that a program requires, this method certainly gives more weight to calendric measurements of learning.
  • Benchmarking This contextual approach to evaluation is used widely around the world and is gaining traction in the US. It prioritizes academic and professional access in the comparison of international qualifications and prefers contact hour measurements of learning duration. More importantly, this evaluation strategy accepts that outcomes and achievements in one country are commensurate with outcomes and achievements in another. It gives weight to how specialized and well-prepared students are for further studies or to enter the workforce with advanced skills.

Can I request a revision or update on my completed evaluation?

Yes, you may order a revision by Signing In to your client portal and clicking the "Request Revision" option. You will be presented with a list of options that you can chose from as your reason to revise your completed evaluation report. Revisions will be issued up to 1 year after the initial evaluation report. If there are any errors or irregularities in the evaluation report that IEE issued, clients will have 6 months to report the issue to IEE. Any errors reported after the 6 months period will be treated as a revision and require such fee.

Can I still order another copy of my report in the future?

We keep the evaluation report on file for 5 years.

To order an extra copy (emailed or mailed) of the completed evaluation report/s, you must log in to your account and look for the Order Extra Copies tab found on the "My Orders" page. To log in, please follow this link: https://myiee.org/login

How long is the validity of the Eval Report?

International Education Evaluations (IEE) evaluations do not expire however, IEE will not issue any copies of an evaluation 5 years after date of initial evaluation.

Does my application expire?

International Education Evaluations will keep your file active for one year from the date you submitted your application, but you may request an extension if you need one by submitting a re-activation fee of $50. If you do not request an extension before your one year expiration and submit the required fee, your application and all documents will be discarded. After that date, all documentation and a new report fee will be required. The re-activation fee will keep your file open for one additional year. There will be no additional extensions.

What type of report should I choose?

The main difference between a Document Report and the variety of Course Reports that IEE offers is that the Document Report will not list individual courses, credits, or GPA; all other report options will. You can review our Evaluations Services page for more detailed information on the differences between the reports IEE offers.

Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the individual client to know what the institution (school, employer, or other) who is accepting the evaluation will want to see on the evaluation.

Document Report

The Document Report will give the U.S. equivalent for each academic credential you submit to us (e.g. high school diploma, Bachelor's degree, transcript, etc.) It will notate how long you studied and give a short description of your program and its entry requirements.

The Document Report is often used for employment, immigration, and education situations, where transfer credit and a Grade Point Average (GPA) are not required.

Education Course Report

The Education Course Report will give the same information as the Document Report - it will indicate the U.S. equivalent for each academic credential you submit to us (e.g. high school diploma, Bachelor's degree, transcript, etc.) In addition, it will contain a section that lists each course on every transcript submitted in chronological order, assign each course a U.S. equivalent grade and credit hours, and give the Grade Point Average (GPA).

The Education Course Report is recommended for education situations, where individual courses, transfer credit, and/or a Grade Point Average (GPA) are relevant or required.

Divisional Education Course

The Divisional Education Course will give the same information as the Document Report - it will indicate the U.S. equivalent for each academic credential you submit to us (e.g. high school diploma, Bachelor's degree, transcript, etc.). In addition, it will contain a section that lists each course on every transcript submitted, assign each course a U.S. equivalent grade and credit hours, and give the Grade Point Average (GPA). The distinguishing feature of the Divisional Education Course report is that for undergraduate-level credentials, the report will provide a clear differentiation between lower-level and upper-level undergraduate coursework. This report is only available for post-secondary, undergraduate (i.e. bachelor's) credentials and should not be selected for secondary or graduate (i.e. master's or doctoral) credentials.

The Divisional Education Course is recommended for applicants who have specifically been instructed to provide an evaluation that differentiates between lower-level and upper-level undergraduate coursework. Please note that the completion of this service is dependent upon the type of program completed and the type of transcript provided. In cases where IEE is unable to accurately determine lower-level and upper-level coursework, a partial refund will be recommended.

General Licensure Report

The General Licensure Report will give the same information as the Document Report - it will indicate the U.S. equivalent for each academic credential you submit to us (e.g. high school diploma, Bachelor's degree, transcript, etc.) In addition, it will contain a section that lists each course on every transcript submitted, assign each course a U.S. equivalent grade and credit hours, and give the Grade Point Average (GPA). The coursework for this report will be sorted by categories for easy identification of professional expertise areas.

Accounting Licensure Report

The coursework for this report will be sorted by categories for easy identification of professional expertise areas, with emphasis on required courses for the accounting field.

A course syllabus of all the coursework taken must be submitted in order to complete this report accurately.

The Accounting Licensure Report is recommended for applicants interested in obtaining a professional Accounting License, since individual courses, transfer credit, and/or a Grade Point Average (GPA) are typically relevant and/or required.

Teaching Licensure Report

The Teaching Licensure Report will give the same information as the Document Report - it will indicate the U.S. equivalent for each academic credential you submit to us (e.g. high school diploma, Bachelor's degree, transcript, etc.) In addition, it will contain a section that lists each course on every transcript submitted, assign each course a U.S. equivalent grade and credit hours, and give the Grade Point Average (GPA). The coursework for this report will be sorted by categories for easy identification of professional expertise areas, with emphasis on required courses for the teaching field.

The Teaching Licensure Report is recommended for applicants interested in obtaining a professional Teaching License, since individual courses, transfer credit, and/or a Grade Point Average (GPA) are typically relevant and/or required.

In the event that you cannot obtain your degree certificate, if your transcript states that you received the degree, that is generally acceptable for evaluation purposes. If you cannot obtain your degree certificate and your transcript does not state that you received the degree, we will need to obtain verification from your university that you graduated and the degree was conferred.

Generally, if the translation of your documents is done at a university in your home country or by the Embassy there, they are acceptable.

Do I need to submit my high school credentials?

Even if you have completed post-secondary education, some institutions still may require you to show your high school on the evaluation. It's best to go ahead and submit high school documents to IEE to ensure your evaluation is as comprehensive. In some instances, post-secondary credit may be awarded.

What is the difference between a translation and an evaluation?

Translation will convert your documents from their original language into English. A translation will not state what those educational documents are equivalent to in the United States.
